What is VBeam Pro?

VBeam Pro is an advanced laser platform developed to treat vascular and dermatologic concerns with precision. It combines two complementary laser wavelengths:

• A 595 nm pulsed dye laser, which targets hemoglobin within visible blood vessels
• A 1064 nm Nd laser, which allows Dr. Richey to address certain deeper or larger vessels

The system delivers carefully controlled laser energy to the targeted vessel. The hemoglobin absorbs this energy and converts it into heat, helping the body gradually clear the treated vessel while limiting unnecessary exposure to the surrounding tissue.

VBeam technology has long been considered a leading option for vascular laser treatment. The new Pro platform builds on that history with improved output accuracy, larger treatment spot sizes, and greater flexibility. What can VBeam Pro treat?

Depending on a patient’s skin, medical history, and treatment goals, VBeam Pro may be used to improve concerns such as:

What does a VBeam Pro treatment feel like?

Before treatment, the patient’s skin is cleansed and protective eyewear is provided. Each laser pulse may feel like a quick snap or a brief sensation of warmth.

The system incorporates a Dynamic Cooling Device™, which releases a precisely timed burst of cooling immediately before the laser pulse. This helps protect the surface of the skin and makes treatment more comfortable. Candela explains that this cooling technology is integrated into the VBeam handpiece to provide consistent epidermal protection.

Treatment time depends on the location and size of the area being addressed. A small cluster of vessels may take only a few minutes, while treatment of a larger area will take longer.

What should patients expect afterward?

Recovery varies according to the condition being treated and the settings selected. Temporary redness, warmth, or swelling may occur. Some treatments are designed to avoid significant bruising, while others may intentionally produce purpura—a temporary purple or bruise-like appearance—to treat a particular vessel effectively.

These effects generally improve with time, although their duration can vary. Dr. Richey and her team explain what each patient can expect based on the personalized treatment plan.

After treatment, patients should treat the skin gently and protect it from the sun. Each patient receives specific aftercare instructions before leaving the office.

How many treatments are needed?

Some patients notice improvement after one treatment, but vascular conditions often require a series of sessions. The number of treatments depends on several factors, including:

• The area being treated
• The duration and severity of the condition
• The patient’s response to treatment
• The desired degree of improvement

Conditions such as rosacea can also recur over time because treatment improves existing visible vessels but does not eliminate the underlying tendency to develop redness. Periodic maintenance treatments may therefore be beneficial.
